UT Tyler is located at 3900 University Blvd, enter the campus at the main entrance on Old Omen Road, parking lot to the right to meet the group. Gresham Ride

We have a new Sunday afternoon ride. Several riders have been meeting at Owens Elementary school in Gresham. This is a casual, easy, social ride. The ride starts promptly at 2:30 PM. Our average speed is between 12 to 14 mph. We try very hard to stay together and we ride between 15 to 25 miles. (We have been known to ride to the Noonday Blue Store for a beverage on occasion.) If you are a new rider looking for an easy, relaxing ride or if you are an experienced rider and looking for a recovery ride, come join us!  Below are links to a Google Earth Map (you must have Google Earth installed for this to work), printable maps--either pdf or Word file, and a link to "Dailymile's" GPX file (you may have to join--it's free!):

LAKE HAWKINS TOUR VIA HAWKINS*

"Pancake Capitol of Texas"
(and hometown of Aunt Jemima!)

This is a wonderful ride to the hometown of Aunt Jemima for pancakes then around scenic Lake Hawkins and back to Tyler. It has no set time or date and occurs several times a year. The time and date is usually discussed on the TBC Forum.

The round trip is about 40 miles with a stop at Jewell's Cafe in Hawkins, "The Pancake Capital of Texas," for breakfast. Some usually ride around Lake Hawkins after breakfast, which adds about 15 more miles. The route from Tyler to Hawkins is scenic with some challenging hills, and the traffic is usually light. It is not a fast ride, but the pace is moderate. The more that go, the more variable the pace can be.

The starting point is usually Super One on N. Beckham and Gentry. The route to Hawkins is on HW 2015, then on HW 14 to Jewell's Cafe. From there, you can take the back way to Lake Hawkins on CR 3419. The distance around the lake is about 10 miles. You can come back to Hawkins the same way or cut out to HW 80 at Lake Hawkins Park. If you don't want to ride your bike to Hawkins, just drive to Hawkins and meet the group for a great breakfast, or take your bike and ride around Lake Hawkins.
